School Psychologist

Requirements

• 1. Hold a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university and a valid New
• Jersey educational services certificate with a school psychologist endorsement
• and other appropriate endorsement(s).
• 2. Administers individual psychological tests to students and evaluates the results to
• determine learning, emotional, and behavioral difficulties.
• 3. Suggests remedial treatment for students diagnosed as having learning difficulties.
• 4. Advises and assists school staff with the application of remedial procedures in relation to
• learning difficulties, social and emotional adjustment problems of students.
• 5. Assists student support and teaching staff with the development of an appropriate
• learning climate for students.
• 6. Participates in all staffing meetings with the CST as an equal member for the purpose of
• determining the eligibility of students for special education programs and/or related
• services.
• 7. Conducts conferences with parents/guardians, teachers and administrators regarding
• students who are identified as special needs.
• 8. Maintains records on referred students.
• 9. Coordinates the evaluation and re-evaluation process as required by law.
• 10. Performs case management duties for assigned students in accordance with NJ
• Administrative Code.
