Job Description
- Provide individual and small group counseling to support students’ social-emotional well-being
- Develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with SEL frameworks (e.g., CASEL competencies)
- Support students with academic planning, goal setting, and organizational skills
- Collaborate with teachers, families, and administrators to address student concerns and promote success
- Partner with special education staff on IEPs and 504 plans, contributing to student support strategies and meetings
- Apply trauma-informed practices to support students’ diverse needs
- Respond to student needs, including crisis intervention and conflict resolution
- Help foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive school climate
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records
- Connect students and families with outside resources when appropriate
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in School Counseling or related field preferred
- Valid NJDOE School Counselor Certification
- Experience working with middle school students preferred
- Knowledge of SEL frameworks, IEP/504 processes, and trauma-informed practices
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to build trusting relationships with students and families
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and whole-child development
