Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalency 2
- Knowledge of child growth and development and appropriate classroom practices and demonstrated ability to assist with instructional activities 3
- Good oral and written communication skills 4
- Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status 5

- JOB GOAL: To promote the achievement of students’ educational goals and learning objectives by providing supplemental and clerical services to assist the classroom teacher
- PERFORMANCE
Responsibilities
- 1
- Assists the classroom teacher in the delivery of an effective instructional program. 2
- Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills introduced by the teacher. 3
- Assists with personal hygiene needs for students when assistance is needed due to developmental or physical delays including pulling up pants, snap/button pants, and changing diapers when necessary. 4
- Assists staff with the implementation and monitoring of student behavioral programs. 5
- Establishes a cooperative working relationship with other staff members and with students. 6
- Maintains confidentiality of student files and other professional communication. 7
- Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes. 8
- Helps students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by teacher. 9
- Distributes and collects workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction. 10
- Records data, students’ skills and benchmark goals as needed

Requirements
- The duties of this job require the following physical activities: sitting, standing, reaching, walking, lifting, bending, kneeling, stooping, climbing, pushing, pulling, finger dexterity, carrying, feeling, repetitive motions, speaking, listening and visual acuity
- The employee may need to lift and/or move a student
- An average weight for a student is 75 pounds
- Assistance can be provided, if necessary
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
