Responsibilities

• Works in cooperation with the school physician, other school health professionals, members of the staff, families, and community health professionals to ensure a healthy school climate and to minimize absence due to illness.Documents all office visits and family communication in the student information system.Conducts health services and screening programs as required by law and/or board policies.Communicates with the Department of Health as required by law and/or board policies.Schedules and supervises health surveys of students and staff
• Refers families in need to health agencies and conducts follow-up activities as necessary.Provides emergency care in case of sudden illness and administers first-aid in case of injury to students or staff according to established policies and procedures.Responsible for the availability and maintenance of required medical supplies and equipment.Maintains up-to-date health records on all students, maintains separate records of immunizations for the purpose of immunization record auditor and ensures their confidentiality.Creates medical action plans in accordance with board policy and communicates the plans with families and staff.Ensures that new employees have required tuberculosis tests and reports results of tests in the Immunization Statue Report.Helps prevent and control communicable disease through education, inspection, exclusion, and re-admission of students and staff in keeping with state and local health regulations and school policies.Notifies their supervisor or designee to arrange for immediate examination of any students who appear to be under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.Confers with and advises students, families, and staff members on matters pertaining to the health and safety of students.Participates in the development and implementation of the district's emergency and crisis management plan.Promotes a healthy and safe school environment by assisting the administration and staff to maintain safe and sanitary conditions throughout the school, reporting problems promptly to the principal.Communicates with families for required vaccinations, prescribed medication documentation, and other needed medical documentation.Administers prescribed medication to students in accordance with law and board policy.Provides training and supervision of the emergency administration of epinephrine for designated school staff.Maintains professional competence through inservice education and participation in other professional development activities
• Receives training in the treatment of asthma and maintains a valid current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certificate as required by law and administrative code.Tracks student attendance and required documentation of absences (elementary).Assists administration in identifying students with excessive absenteeism and creating an action plan to improve attendance.Prepares health and safety reports as required by law and/or requested by the superintendent.Serves as a member of the Intervention & Referral Services team and the 504 Plan team as needed.Observes and follows ethical standards as articulated by the professional discipline of nursing.Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.Performs other duties which may be within the scope of their employment and certifications as may be assigned by the superintendent or designee.POSITION OPEN UNTIL FILLED Please submit an application, letter of interest, and resume through the Haddon Heights School District Employment website.Please select the link below to apply:Haddon Heights School District - Employment
