- Function A: Plans
- Knowledge of the New Jersey Student Learning Standards
- Plans a program of study and lessons that meets the needs and abilities of students.Writes lesson plans which include clear objectives and the manner in which the objective is to be pursued.Ability to differentiate instruction, learning activities and assessments based on individual student learning needs and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and to develop clear and measurable learning goals for students
- Capacity for using student performance data for short and long term planning of instruction.Maintains an awareness of current developments in the subject area assigned.Function B: Teaches
- Experience working with a variety of students with a broad spectrum of disabilities and special needs
- Practical knowledge of current, research-based, effective educational practices
- Teaches in accordance with the curriculum adopted by the Board of Education within the limits of the resources of the district.Ability to work in a collaborative setting (co-teach) with grade level and departmental colleagues
- Communicates lesson, unit and project objectives to students.Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the mode of learning of students, e.g. auditory, visual, and tactile.Meets and instructs students within the area of his/her scope of certification
- Supervisory assistance will be provided by the district and upon request of the teacher within the limits of the resources of the district.Function C: Evaluates
- Assesses the progress of students and reports to parents/guardians.Identifies the learning needs of students on a regular basis.Notifies the principal and parents/guardians of students who are having serious academic difficulty.Administers pupil assessment instruments in accordance with the district testing program, interprets the results and plans instruction accordingly.Function D: Maintains Classroom Management Practices
- Strong and effective classroom management and behavior management skills based on restorative practices.Uses discretion in the distribution of supplies and equipment.Maintains an inventory of all equipment and supplies assigned to his/her custody, as per current end-of-year checkout sheet.Maintains a classroom which has a neat and tidy appearance.Function E: Contributes to the Smooth Operation of the School District
- Confers with and maintains appropriate behavior in working with school personnel, parents, students and other agencies.Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students' equipment, materials and facilities.Practical and instructional skills and applications in technology.Makes provisions for conferring with parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.Attends and participates in all faculty meetings and serves, as appropriate, on staff committees, unless released by the Vice Principal.Assists in curriculum development and in the selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.Notifies the principal or designee, as far in advance as possible, when unable to carry out assigned duties.Performs duties which are within the scope of his/her employment and certifications as assigned by his/her supervisor in accordance with New Jersey state law, State Board of Education rules and regulations, contractual obligations, local Board of Education policies and local administrative regulations and determinations.Follow routine school procedures.Participates in the sponsorship of pupil and school activities.Keeps in confidence information that has been obtained in the course of professional service, unless disclosure is required by law or directed by the administration or Board of Education.Provides direct guidance, support and supervision of assigned instructional aides.Excellent speaking and writing communication skills.Perform all other
