Qualifications

• Hold a New Jersey certificate - learning disabilities teacher-consultant - N.J.A.C. 6:11-12.152
• Required criminal history background and proof of U.S
• Citizenship or legal resident alien status3
• Master's degree from an accredited college or university4
• Three years of successful teaching experience5
• Such alternatives to the above

• JOB GOAL: The Learning Disabilities/Teacher Consultant functions in the school environment as an educational diagnostician, instructional programmer and Child Study Team member
• The LDT/C uses his/her understanding of classroom functioning, effective teaching and adaptive instruction to help student's maximize their learning potential and provide practical assistance t their teachers.DUTIES AND

Responsibilities

• The LTD/C provides student/teacher consultations, preventive pre-referral intervention, assessment, coordination of services and program development
• The LDT/C must also communicate effectively with parents, teachers and administrators.1
• Consultation: The LDT/C will collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators in order to explore and implement effective solutions to learning and behavior problems
• The LDT/C will be a resource for methods and materials that are appropriate for the instruction of Special Needs students.2
• Pre-Referral Intervention: The LDT/C will act as a member of the Student Support Team
• The LDT/C will provide suggestions and recommendations for specific instructional strategies to parent/teachers and other staff members.3
• Assessment: The LTD/C will complete academic assessments
• Assessments should include both standardized and functional assessments, review of a students work samples and the student's records, classroom observations, interviews with teachers and other relevant parties, and an evaluation and analysis of a student's academic performance and learning characteristics.4
• Coordination of Services: The LDT/C will act as a liaison between home, school, and administration
• The LDT/C will act as a case manager, and will oversee the development and implementation of a student's educational program.5
• Program Development: The LDT/C will coordinate and chair Child Study Team meetings
• The LDT/C will be instrumental in the classification process and the subsequent development and monitoring of a student's IEP.6
• Communication: The LDT/C will provide in servicing for teachers/staff and parents on academically relevant issues.7
• The LD.T/C will perform such duties which are within the scope of employment and certification as assigned by the supervisor, subject to the approval of the superintendent of schools in accordance with New Jersey state laws, state Board of Education rules and regulations, Deptford Township Board of Education policies and contractual obligations.8
• All direct services, including nursing services, such as medication administration, submitted for reimbursement must be prescribed in the related services section of the student's IEP
• The cover/signature page, related services section, and the evaluations and assessments prescribing the related service(s) must be maintained in an accurate and timely manner.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten month year
