• JOB GOAL: To provide a safe environment throughout the buildings and grounds.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Yearly contract as determined by the Board of Education

Qualifications

• All grounds employees must have 3b license.2
• General knowledge of grounds methods and procedure.3
• Ability to read, write and communicated effectively.4
• Ability to work safely while using chemicals and equipment.5
• Required criminal history background check and proof of citizenship or legal resident alien status.6
• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. without restrictions.7
• Must be able to stretch forward and up, bend down and squat without restriction for required tasks.8
• Must be able to move up and down steps and climb ladders without restrictions.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:1
• Required to stand, sit, walk, and use hands and fingers to handle orfeel objects, tools, or controls and be able to talk or hear.2
• Required to continuously use hand strength to grasp tools more than the average person while performing the duties of this job.3
• Required to frequently bend, reach forward, squat and twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job.4
• Required to frequently lift up to 50 pounds such as bags of fertilizer or grass seed or other supplies and occasionally lift and move up to 75 pounds such as snow removal or equipment.5 Required to push/pull items such as lawn mowers, furniture, ladders wheel barrows and spreaders.6 Must be able to go up and down steps repeatedly without restrictions as well as climb ladders.7 Must have no physical restrictions for working with fertilizers and other agents for applications for lawn care.8
• Must have no physical restrictions for working with grass, weed control and other plants.9

Responsibilities

• Ability to operate all maintenance department vehicles in a safe and proper manner.2
• Ability to operate all grounds equipment; front end loader/back hoe, tractors, tractors used with flail, spreader, bush hog, plow, power rake, power seeder, rotary mower, reel mower, auger, tine harrow
• Weed trimmer, tank sprayer/pesticide applications, dump trucks with trailers, used for sanding, dumping, and plowing
• Chain saw, power hedge trimmer, and gas power blower.3
• Reports all items of safety and equipment failure to the maintenance supervisor.4
• Performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs of all equipment.5
• Responsible for knowledge of measurements of all sports fields.6
• Responsible for lining of all fields for sporting events.7
• Must have knowledge of all phases of turf management including fertilizing, seeding/over seeding, cutting grass, and scheduling irrigation.8
• Responsible for pesticide treatment of herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, and iron supplement treatment (employees hired after 1/1/99).9
• Must have knowledge of construction and renovation of all fields.10
• Responsible for lawn maintenance throughout school district grounds.11
• Responsible for snow removal and operation of all snow removal equipment.12
• Responsible for pruning of bushes and trees.13
• Responsible for mulching of beds.14
• Responsible for raking and removal of leaves and tree debris.15
• Responsible for installation of signs where needed throughout the district.16
• Must be able to lift 75 lbs.17
• Responsible for waterproof spraying of football stadium bleacher.18
• Responsible for various occasional duties such as: substitute lunch and supply deliveries
• Janitorial staff substitute, furniture moving, bank instrument moving.19
• Responsible for roof gutter cleaning.20
• Responsible for general care and minor maintenance of irrigation system.21
• Performs all work-related duties as assigned by supervisor within the scope of the job.
