  • CJCP is seeking a dedicated and proactive School Behaviorist to support a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment for all students
  • The Behaviorist will play a key role in managing student conduct, implementing discipline procedures, supporting behavioral interventions, and maintaining consistent communication with families in alignment with the Student Handbook and school policies.Key

Responsibilities

  • Support students in developing positive behaviors through proactive strategies and interventions, and restorative practices.Address student discipline concerns in alignment with the CJCP's Student Handbook, Code of Conduct, and NJ Department of Education guidelines.Issue, document, and follow up on behavioral write-ups, incident reports, and disciplinary referrals as needed.Conduct discipline investigations, gather statements, and ensure timely and accurate documentation of incidents.Communicate clearly and consistently with parents/guardians regarding student behavior, disciplinary actions, consequences, and follow-up plans.Lead and manage follow-up meetings with students and families to support accountability and behavior improvement.Track, document, and analyze behavioral incidents using school systems to identify patterns and areas for intervention..Collaborate with teachers, administrators, counselors, and support staff to address ongoing or escalating behavioral concerns.Support and lead interventions related to HIB (Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying) cases and ensure full compliance with NJ state

Requirements

  • , including timelines, and reporting.Participate in I&RS, 504, and other student support meetings to contribute behavior-related insight and intervention planning.Assist with supervising and monitoring in the hallways, classrooms, cafeterias, and common areas to maintain a positive school climate.Assist with conflict resolution between students and support restorative conversations when appropriate.Contribute to school-wide behavior initiatives, incentive programs, and prevention strategies.Serve as a consistent point of contact for behavior-related concerns for both staff and families

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field (Master's preferred)Experience working in a school setting
  • Knowledge of NJ HIB laws, school discipline procedures, and student conduct protocols.Written and verbal communication skills, especially with parents/guardians
  • Conflict resolution, documentation, and follow-up skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Certification NOT required, but relevant credentials are a plus
