Qualifications

  • Must possess a current Certified Educational Facilities Manager certificate (CEFM)High school diploma required.Minimum of 7 years experience in school plant maintenance and custodial operations, or an equivalent mix of maintenance and custodial experience of large corporate facilities including school maintenance experience.Minimum of 10 years experience in direct supervision of maintenance personnel.Possession of a valid license or certification in a specific trade (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.) or willingness to obtain such certification within one year of employment."General knowledge of construction, maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical, plumbing and carpentry.General knowledge of building codes, state and federal OSHA and environmental codes.Experience in grounds care and maintenance.Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status and Mantoux verification.Current residency in New Jersey, approved residency waiver or candidate agrees to obtain residency within one year of employment

  • Project management: Proactively Plan for, review, and monitor all District operational and maintenance projects in conjunction with the Superintendent of Schools
  • Budget and financial records: Maintain budget control for all operational and maintenance accounts under the auspices of the Business Administrator;Plan for, review, and monitor all district capital projects;Prepare and submit to the Business Administrator a preliminary plant operations and maintenance budget.Daily operations: Supervise the daily operations of the school district through the school custodian(s) with final responsibility to:Maintain work schedules for proper maintenance in individual buildings.Direct the preparation of playing fields and grounds, and other necessary facilities for athletics and other school activities;Oversee repairs, ensure that preventive maintenance and lubrication schedules are met;Assist in monitoring outside contractors to ensure contracts are adhered to;Implement a preventive maintenance program to ensure safe operation of equipment.Ensure maintenance schedules and Department of Motor Vehicles inspections are conducted on district vehicles;Conduct periodic inspections of buildings.Ensures compliance with all environmental, health, and safety mandates including Right-to-Know, AHERA, IPM, and lead testing regulations; maintains documentation and reporting consistent with NJDOE and NJDEP

  • payment;Evaluates the performance of custodians in accordance with board policy.Recommend to the Business Administrator any agenda item of personnel, bidding, or matters relating to plant operations, maintenance, for the Board of Education approval.Supervise and oversee the improvement and renovation work performed by both in-house personnel and outside contractors, verifying that terms of all such contracts have been fulfilled before recommending final payment.Work with the Board's architectural and or engineering firms on capital projects and district initiatives.Collaborates with district and building administration to ensure that facility systems support emergency management, school security, and evacuation protocols.Assist with the NJ State Department of Education monitoring for facilities.Attend appropriate board committee and other meetings.Directly oversee school snow removal operations, notify radio/ police stations, and advise the Superintendent of Schools on conditions.Assists with the preparation, submission, and ongoing monitoring of the district's Long Range Facilities Plan (LRFP) and Comprehensive Maintenance Plan (CMP) in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6A:26A.Conducts periodic inspections and tests of all electrical installations in the school to ensure their safe condition, and makes repairs and improvements pursuant to code and to building permits properly issued by the local municipal government.Ensures that all fire/safety and environmental laws and regulations relating to the plant maintenance and operation are enforced.Develops detailed specifications for supplies, materials, and equipment, and maintains an updated inventory of custodial and maintenance supplies.Collaborates with the Technology Department to ensure integration of facilities management systems, such as security cameras, HVAC automation, and access controls.Maintains all records required by board policy, statute, or administrative code, and enforces policies related to facility safety, maintenance, and security.Any other duties assigned by the Superintendent of Schools
