  • PERFORMANCE

Responsibilities

  • Plans a program of study that addresses the individual needs, interests and abilities of students.Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of students.Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and - in harmony with the goals - establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects.Employs instructional methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting stated objectives to meet the learning needs of all students.Assesses student performance for the purpose of informing instruction and to provide timely feedback to students; completes interim progress report cards, as required.Provide instruction for the diverse learning needs of students at all ability levels through scaffolding, curriculum compacting, and differentiated lessons; implements response to intervention strategies, modification and accommodations to the general curriculum.Consults with colleagues, students and/or parents regarding the educational, health, social and emotional needs of students.Assists the administration in implementing and supervising all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.Integrates technology in the design and implementation of lessons and encourages students to express learning using a variety of technologies and mediums.Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for instructional associate(s), resource assistant(s) and/or volunteer(s) and, cooperatively with department heads, evaluates their job performance.Participates in professional development activities at the building and district level through development of annual professional development plans and collaboration with colleagues.Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.Supervises extracurricular activities that relate to individual teaching assignments or areas assigned by the building administrator.Performs such other duties as directed by the building administrator.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Ten month year
