- Position Overview
- The School Nurse is responsible for managing and coordinating student health services across the school
- This role includes direct care, health screenings, medication administration, emergency response, and collaboration with families, staff, and healthcare providers
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to students and staff as needed during the school day
- Administer medications and maintain accurate medication logs in accordance with school policy and physician orders
- Respond to student illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies
- Conduct mandated health screenings (vision, hearing, height/weight, etc.)Maintain and update student health records and confidential medical documentation
- Develop and implement Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and Emergency Action Plans
- Collaborate with families, physicians, and school staff regarding student health needs
- Support compliance with state immunization and health
Requirements
- Provide health education and wellness guidance to students and staff
- Participate in IEP and 504 meetings as needed to support student health accommodations
- Ensure proper infection control practices and school-wide health safety procedures
- Maintain the health office, supplies, and medical equipment
Qualifications
- Current NJ Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Valid School Nurse Certification required
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
- Experience in pediatrics, school nursing, or community health preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and emergency response skills
- Excellent communication, organization, and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with school staff and families Preferred
Qualifications
- Experience working in a school setting
- Familiarity with NJ school health regulations and reporting
Requirements
- Experience supporting students with chronic medical conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, allergies)Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse student populations
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Compensation &
