- Thrive Charter School is seeking a compassionate, patient, and highly dedicated 1:1 Elementary Education Assistant to support a student in grades K-5
- The ideal candidate will work closely with the classroom teacher and support staff to provide individualized academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to ensure student success in the least restrictive environment.Position Overview
- The 1:1 Elementary Education Assistant provides direct, individualized support to a single student throughout the school day
- This role focuses on helping the student access grade-level instruction, follow routines, develop independence, and achieve goals outlined in their Individualized Education Program (IEP), if applicable
Responsibilities
- Provide consistent 1:1 support to an assigned elementary student during the school day
- Assist the student in accessing classroom instruction and completing academic tasks
- Implement accommodations and modifications as directed by the classroom teacher and special education team
- Support the student's behavioral, social, and emotional development using approved strategies and interventions
- Promote independence while providing appropriate levels of support and prompting
- Assist with transitions between activities, classrooms, and school settings
- Monitor and report student progress and behavior to the teacher and special education staff
- Support implementation of behavior intervention plans (BIPs), if applicable
- Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
- Supervise the student during lunch, recess, specials, and other non-instructional times
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; associate degree or college coursework preferred
- Experience working with children in a school or childcare setting preferred
- Experience supporting students with special needs strongly preferred
- Strong patience, flexibility, and communication skills
- Ability to follow direction and work collaboratively with staff

- Experience providing 1:1 student support in an educational setting
- Knowledge of behavior support strategies or trauma-informed practices
- Interest in special education or pursuing a career in education
- Strong relationship-building skills with students and staff
