Responsibilities

• The School Safety Specialist is responsible for overseeing the daily safety and security operations of the school
• This includes monitoring entrances and exits, supervising hallways and common areas, and ensuring that all visitors follow established protocols
• The Specialist plays a key role during arrival, dismissal, and transitional periods, helping to maintain an orderly and secure environment throughout the school day.In addition to day-to-day

Responsibilities

• , the School Safety Specialist is actively involved in emergency preparedness and crisis response
• This includes supporting the development and implementation of the School Safety and Security Plan, assisting with required drills such as fire, lockdown, evacuation, and shelter-in-place procedures, and responding promptly and effectively to any emergencies or incidents that arise
• The Specialist is expected to remain calm under pressure, exercise sound judgment, and communicate clearly during critical situations.A central component of this role is building positive relationships with students and contributing to a strong school climate
• The School Safety Specialist will proactively engage with students, monitor behavior, and intervene early when concerns arise
• Using de-escalation strategies and restorative practices, the Specialist will help resolve conflicts and support a respectful and safe school environment.The position also requires ongoing collaboration with school administration, faculty, and external agencies
• The School Safety Specialist serves as a liaison with local law enforcement and emergency responders when needed and participates in safety planning, meetings, and professional development
• Accurate documentation is a critical responsibility, and the Specialist must maintain detailed records of incidents, prepare reports, and assist with investigations in accordance with school policies and state

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to build trust and rapport with students and staff
