- Thrive Charter School is seeking a passionate, creative, and student-centered Art Teacher for Grades 5-8 to join our instructional team
- The ideal candidate will inspire students through engaging, standards-based visual arts instruction while fostering creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression.Position Overview
- The Art Teacher will be responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive visual arts program for students in grades 5 through 8
- This includes lesson planning, instruction, assessment, classroom management, and contributing to a positive school culture
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate art instruction aligned to NJ Student Learning Standards
- Teach foundational and advanced art skills including drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and art history
- Foster creativity, self-expression, and student confidence through visual arts
- Maintain a structured, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
- Assess student work and provide meaningful feedback to support growth
- Display student artwork throughout the school and for school-wide exhibitions
- Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning opportunities
- Participate in school events, professional development, and staff meetings
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Art Education or related field (required)NJDOE certification in Art (K-12 or appropriate middle school certification) preferred or eligible
- Strong classroom management and instructional skills
- Experience working with middle school-aged students preferred
- Ability to inspire and engage students with diverse learning needs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
