  • Thrive Charter School is seeking a passionate, creative, and student-centered Art Teacher for Grades 5-8 to join our instructional team
  • The ideal candidate will inspire students through engaging, standards-based visual arts instruction while fostering creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression.Position Overview
  • The Art Teacher will be responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive visual arts program for students in grades 5 through 8
  • This includes lesson planning, instruction, assessment, classroom management, and contributing to a positive school culture

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate art instruction aligned to NJ Student Learning Standards
  • Teach foundational and advanced art skills including drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and art history
  • Foster creativity, self-expression, and student confidence through visual arts
  • Maintain a structured, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Assess student work and provide meaningful feedback to support growth
  • Display student artwork throughout the school and for school-wide exhibitions
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning opportunities
  • Participate in school events, professional development, and staff meetings

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Art Education or related field (required)NJDOE certification in Art (K-12 or appropriate middle school certification) preferred or eligible
  • Strong classroom management and instructional skills
  • Experience working with middle school-aged students preferred
  • Ability to inspire and engage students with diverse learning needs
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
