  • Thrive Charter School is seeking a highly motivated, skilled, and student-centered Special Education Teacher (Math Focus) for Grades 9-12 to join our high school team
  • The ideal candidate will provide specialized instructional support in mathematics for students with disabilities while ensuring access to rigorous, grade-level curriculum and individualized academic success.Position Overview
  • The Grades 9-12 Special Education Math Teacher will support students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) by delivering targeted math instruction, accommodations, and modifications in both inclusion and/or resource settings
  • This role focuses on strengthening students' mathematical understanding, problem-solving skills, and confidence in preparation for graduation and post-secondary success

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct instruction in mathematics for students with disabilities in grades 9-12Implement, monitor, and maintain compliance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)Deliver differentiated math instruction aligned to NJ Student Learning Standards
  • Support students in algebra, geometry, and other high school math courses as assigned
  • Modify curriculum, assessments, and instructional materials based on student needs
  • Collect and analyze student data to guide instruction and track progress
  • Provide support in inclusion settings through co-teaching and collaboration with general education math teachers
  • Develop and implement positive behavior supports and classroom management strategies
  • Support students with executive functioning, organization, and test-taking strategies
  • Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and parent/guardian communication
  • Collaborate with related service providers and school staff to support student success

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Mathematics Education, or related field (required)NJDOE certification in Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) and/or Secondary Mathematics or Special Education certification (required or eligible)Strong content knowledge in high school mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, etc.)Experience working with high school students preferred
