- Thrive Charter School is seeking a dedicated, engaging, and student-centered High School History Teacher (Grades 9-12) to join our instructional team
- The ideal candidate will inspire students to think critically about historical events, develop strong analytical skills, and make meaningful connections between the past and present.Position Overview
- The Grades 9-12 History Teacher will be responsible for delivering rigorous, standards-based instruction in United States History, World History, Government, and/or related social studies courses
- The role emphasizes inquiry-based learning, historical thinking skills, and preparation for college, careers, and civic engagement
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in high school history and social studies courses
- Teach subjects such as U.S
- History, World History, Government, Economics, or electives as assigned
- Develop lesson plans that promote critical thinking, analysis, and discussion of historical events and themes
- Use data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Create and administer formative and summative assessments aligned to learning standards
- Foster a classroom environment that encourages respectful discourse and civic understanding
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Collaborate with special education staff to support student accommodations and inclusion
- Integrate primary and secondary sources to enhance historical inquiry
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress
- Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school-wide initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in History, Social Studies Education, Political Science, or related field (required)NJDOE certification in Secondary Social Studies/History (or eligible for certification) required
- Experience teaching high school students preferred
- Strong content knowledge in U.S. and World History, Government, and Economics
- Strong classroom management and instructional planning skills
- Ability to engage students in discussion-based and inquiry-driven learning

Qualifications
- Experience with AP-level coursework or rigorous college-prep curriculum
- Familiarity with NJ Student Learning Standards for Social Studies
- Experience supporting diverse learners in inclusive classroom settings
- Strong use of primary source documents and project-based learning strategies
