  • Thrive Charter School is seeking a motivated, energetic, and student-centered Health and Physical Education (HE/PE) Teacher for Grades 9-12 to join our instructional team
  • The ideal candidate will promote lifelong wellness, physical fitness, and healthy decision-making while fostering a positive, inclusive, and active learning environment.Position Overview
  • The HE/PE Teacher will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive health and physical education program aligned with New Jersey Student Learning Standards
  • Instruction should support student wellness, fitness development, teamwork, and personal responsibility

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging, standards-based Health and Physical Education curriculum for grades 9-12Teach physical fitness, team sports, individual fitness activities, and lifelong wellness concepts
  • Deliver health instruction including nutrition, mental health, substance awareness, relationships, and decision-making skills
  • Promote student physical activity, teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth
  • Assess student performance in both physical and classroom-based components
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive environment for all students
  • Organize and supervise physical activities and athletic-related events as appropriate
  • Collaborate with staff to support school-wide wellness initiatives
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Health, Physical Education, Education, or related field (required)NJDOE certification in Health and Physical Education (K-12 or appropriate certification) preferred or eligible
  • Experience working with high school students preferred
  • Strong classroom management and instructional skills
  • Ability to motivate students of varying fitness and skill levels
  • Commitment to student wellness and safety
  • Preferred

Qualifications

  • Coaching or athletic program experience
  • Experience implementing fitness testing and wellness programs
  • Strong collaboration and organizational skills
  • Ability to support school athletic or extracurricular programs
