- Thrive Charter School is seeking a passionate, skilled, and inspiring Instrumental Music Teacher for Grades 7-12 to join our team
- The ideal candidate will cultivate a love of music, develop student musicianship, and build a strong instrumental music program that includes performance, instruction, and enrichment opportunities.Position Overview
- The Instrumental Music Teacher will be responsible for developing and leading a comprehensive instrumental music program for middle and high school students
- This includes teaching fundamental and advanced instrumental skills, conducting ensembles, and providing performance opportunities throughout the school year
Responsibilities
- Design and implement a standards-based instrumental music curriculum for grades 7-12Teach instrumental techniques, music theory, sight-reading, and performance skills
- Direct school ensembles such as band, jazz band, and/or small ensembles (as applicable)Prepare students for performances, concerts, and school/community events
- Foster student growth in musicianship, discipline, and collaboration
- Differentiate instruction to meet varying skill levels and learning needs
- Maintain and manage instruments, equipment, and rehearsal spaces
- Collaborate with staff to support school-wide performances and events
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education or related field (required)NJDOE certification in Music Education (K-12 or appropriate certification) preferred or eligible
- Strong proficiency in instrumental music instruction
- Experience working with middle and/or high school students preferred
- Ability to direct ensembles and organize performances
- Strong classroom management and instructional skills

Qualifications
- Experience with marching band, jazz band, or ensemble direction
- Ability to teach multiple instruments or instrumental families
- Experience incorporating technology into music instruction
- Strong organizational and collaboration skills
