- Thrive Charter School is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and highly skilled Special Education Teacher for Grades 5-8 to join our middle school team
- The ideal candidate will support students with disabilities by providing high-quality, differentiated instruction in both inclusion and/or self-contained settings, ensuring access to grade-level standards and individualized learning goals
- Position Overview
- The Grades 5-8 Special Education Teacher will work with students who have Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and will be responsible for delivering instruction, supporting accommodations and modifications, and fostering academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth
- This role requires strong collaboration with general education teachers and related service providers to ensure student success in the least restrictive environment
Responsibilities
- Provide direct instruction to students with disabilities in grades 5-8Implement, monitor, and maintain compliance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)Deliver differentiated instruction aligned to grade-level standards and student needs
- Modify and adapt curriculum, assessments, and assignments as required
- Support students in both inclusion and/or resource settings as assigned
- Collect, analyze, and utilize student data to guide instructional planning
- Develop and maintain positive behavior supports and classroom management systems
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion and co-teaching models
- Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and parent/guardian communication
- Coordinate with related service providers (speech, OT, PT, counseling, etc.)Support students in developing executive functioning, organization, and self-advocacy skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (required)NJDOE certification in Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) and/or Middle School Special Education certification (required or eligible)Experience working with middle school-aged students preferred
- Strong knowledge of instructional strategies for students with diverse learning needs
- Understanding of IEP development, compliance, and progress monitoring
- Strong classroom management and instructional planning skills

Qualifications
- Experience in inclusion/co-teaching and/or self-contained special education settings
- Training in structured literacy, math interventions, or evidence-based practices
- Strong collaboration skills and experience working with multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to build strong relationships with students and families
