- Thrive Charter School is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and highly skilled Resource Special Education Teacher for Grades 3-5 to join our instructional team
- The ideal candidate will provide targeted academic and behavioral support to elementary students with disabilities, ensuring access to grade-level curriculum while meeting individualized learning goals in a resource setting.Position Overview
- The Grades 3-5 Resource Special Education Teacher will work with students who have Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), providing small-group and individualized instruction in reading, writing, and mathematics
- This role is essential in supporting student growth, independence, and success within both the resource room and general education environments
Responsibilities
- Provide direct instruction in a resource room setting for students in grades 3-5Implement and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) with fidelity
- Deliver differentiated, research-based instruction in literacy, math, and related academic areas
- Support students with social-emotional and behavioral skill development
- Collect, analyze, and use student data to guide instruction and progress monitoring
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion and access to curriculum
- Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and parent/guardian communication
- Develop and modify instructional materials based on student needs
- Implement positive behavior supports and classroom management strategies
- Work closely with related service providers (speech, OT, PT, counseling)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (required)NJDOE certification in Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) and/or Elementary Special Education certification (required or eligible)Experience working with upper elementary students preferred
- Strong understanding of reading, writing, and math intervention strategies
- Knowledge of IEP development, compliance, and progress monitoring
- Strong classroom management and instructional planning skills

- Training in structured literacy or evidence-based reading interventions
- Experience supporting diverse learners with varying academic and behavioral needs
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with families and staff
