- Thrive Charter School is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and student-centered K-2 Resource Special Education Teacher to join our instructional team
- The ideal candidate will provide targeted academic and behavioral support to early elementary students with disabilities in a resource room setting, ensuring access to grade-level curriculum and individualized learning goals.Position Overview
- The K-2 Resource Special Education Teacher will support students with IEPs through individualized and small-group instruction in reading, writing, and mathematics, as well as social-emotional and behavioral development
- This role is essential in helping young learners build foundational academic skills while fostering confidence, independence, and a love of learning
Responsibilities
- Provide direct instruction in a resource room setting for students in grades K-2Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) with fidelity
- Deliver differentiated, research-based instruction in reading, writing, and math
- Support students with developing social, emotional, and behavioral skills
- Collect and analyze student data to guide instruction and monitor progress
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion and access to curriculum
- Participate in IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and parent communication
- Develop and maintain instructional materials aligned to student needs
- Support positive behavior interventions and classroom management strategies
- Work collaboratively with related service providers (speech, OT, PT, counseling)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (required)NJDOE certification in Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) and/or Early Childhood Special Education certification (required or eligible)Experience working with early elementary students preferred
- Strong understanding of early literacy and numeracy development
- Knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and progress monitoring
- Strong classroom management and instructional planning skills
