  • Thrive Charter School is seeking a dynamic, student-centered, and experienced educational leader to serve as Interim Vice Principal of Student Life and Restorative Practices
  • This leadership role is responsible for fostering a positive school culture, strengthening student behavior systems, and leading restorative practices that support student accountability, growth, and well-being
  • Position Overview
  • The Interim Vice Principal of Student Life and Restorative Practices will lead initiatives focused on student behavior, school culture, and restorative discipline practices across the school
  • This role works closely with administrators, teachers, counselors, and families to ensure a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment for all students

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of school-wide student behavior and culture systems
  • Oversee restorative practices, including restorative conferences, circles, and conflict resolution strategies
  • Support staff in implementing consistent, fair, and student-centered discipline practices
  • Respond to student behavioral incidents and provide timely, restorative interventions
  • Monitor student attendance, behavior data, and discipline trends to inform school-wide supports
  • Collaborate with counselors, teachers, and support staff to develop student intervention plans
  • Build positive relationships with students to promote accountability, reflection, and growth
  • Support staff professional development related to classroom management and restorative approaches
  • Work with families to address behavioral concerns and strengthen home-school partnerships
  • Ensure compliance with school policies and applicable state and federal regulations
  • Assist in supervision of school events, arrivals, dismissals, and transitions
  • Support crisis response and school safety procedures as needed

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Counseling, or related field (required)Valid NJDOE Principal or Supervisor certification (preferred or eligible)Minimum of 5 years of experience in school leadership, student support, or behavior management
  • Strong knowledge of restorative practices, PBIS, or similar behavior frameworks
  • Experience working with middle and/or high school students preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Preferred

Qualifications

  • Experience in school discipline, student life, or dean/assistant principal roles
  • Training in restorative justice practices or trauma-informed approaches
  • Ability to analyze behavior data and implement systems-level improvements
  • Strong ability to build relationships with students, staff, and families
  • Experience in diverse or urban school settings
