  • College Achieve Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and student-centered ELA Interventionist for a middle school to provide targeted support for students who need additional instruction in reading
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in reading development and intervention, and a passion for helping students build foundational literacy skills
  • This role is critical to ensuring that every scholar has the tools to succeed academically and thrive in a rigorous college-preparatory environment.Key

Responsibilities

  • Observe and assess students in various instructional settings to evaluate reading abilities and instructional needs
  • Conduct diagnostic assessments and analyze data to inform instruction and intervention strategies
  • Design and implement individualized and small group intervention plans to support reading comprehension, phonics, fluency, and vocabulary
  • Use evidence-based instructional strategies aligned with the Science of Reading and other best practices
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and administrators to align interventions with classroom instruction and goals
  • Communicate student progress regularly with teachers, families, and administrators
  • Provide one-on-one tutoring and small-group instruction as needed
  • Facilitate group lessons for students with similar instructional needs
  • Create engaging learning activities and materials tailored to diverse learners
  • Support classroom instruction by modeling effective literacy strategies and coaching staff as needed
  • Maintain accurate student records and progress monitoring documentation
  • Participate in all professional development sessions and contribute to a collaborative school culture
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by school leadership

Qualifications

  • Valid New Jersey K-6 Certification
  • Reading Specialist/Reading Certification preferred
  • Minimum of three years of job-related experience, such as classroom teaching or reading intervention
  • Demonstrated knowledge of reading assessment tools and intervention programs
  • Familiarity with structured literacy practices and differentiated instruction
  • Must pass a criminal history background check and meet all state employment
