Qualifications

• Teacher of Students with Disabilities or Teacher of the Handicapped Certification
• Elementary Teacher Certification
• Knowledge and experience working in an Emotional Regulation Impairment (ERI) classroom preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relations with students, faculty, staff, and community members
• Foster social and emotional intelligence through effective classroom management and discussion/teaching
• Provide coordination and leadership of the classroom
• Demonstrate an understanding of current best practices in the teaching of special education students
• Prepare and assign personalized academic assignments, homework and projects according to district policy, approved curriculum guidance and student needs
• Monitor, evaluate, and report student progress, including academic growth, social skills, and behavior modification
• Collaborate with other professionals
