Qualifications

• Valid New Jersey certification (Teacher of English or Elementary with appropriate middle school experience)Demonstrated experience teaching reading/ELA at the middle school level preferred
• Knowledge of adolescent literacy development and intervention strategies
• Experience with structured literacy approaches; Orton-Gillingham training or certification preferred
• Ability to analyze data and provide targeted, skill-based instruction

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted small-group (pull-out) reading and ELA intervention
• Deliver in-class support through collaboration and co-teaching with general education teachers
• Implement structured literacy approaches, including Orton-Gillingham, to support decoding, fluency, and comprehension
• Use assessment data to identify student needs, plan instruction, and monitor progress
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to align interventions with grade-level instruction
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and adjust instruction as needed
• Communicate student progress with staff and families, as appropriate
• Support students in building confidence and independence as readers and writers

• Experience providing both pull-out intervention and in-class support
• Ability to co-teach and consult effectively with general education teachers
• Strong understanding of decoding, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension instruction
• Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs
• Ability to create a structured, supportive learning environment that promotes growth and confidence

Salary
