Qualifications

  • Valid New Jersey Elementary School Teacher Certification required
  • Demonstrated experience teaching mathematics
  • Strong knowledge of math content, including number sense, operations, fluency, problem-solving, and conceptual understanding required
  • Experience providing math intervention, basic skills instruction, or small-group support preferred
  • Ability to use assessment data to identify skill gaps, plan targeted instruction, and monitor student progress required
  • Knowledge of RTI/MTSS and evidence-based math intervention strategies preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted small-group and individualized math instruction
  • Support students in developing number sense, math fluency, problem-solving, and conceptual understanding
  • Use assessment data to identify student needs and monitor progress
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, interventionists, and administrators
  • Implement research-based math strategies and interventions
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress
  • Communicate student growth and concerns with staff and families, as needed
  • Help create a positive learning environment where students build confidence in math

  • Ability to analyze data and adjust instruction based on student needs
  • Strong understanding of foundational math development
  • Experience supporting students with varied learning needs
  • Ability to make math accessible, engaging, and connected to grade-level standards
  • Ability to consult and collaborate with general education teachers to support math instruction
  • Experience co-teaching, modeling strategies, and supporting students within the general education classroom
  • Ability to help teachers plan targeted supports, interventions, and accommodations based on student needs
